Rumour: Zendaya wanted for Ariel role in The Little Mermaid

  • Flickeringmyth

Over the past few years Disney has made a big push to revisit its animated back catalogue with a series of live-action movies, and in 2016 it was announced that The Little Mermaid would be one of the films to receive the remake treatment.

Since, then, it has been announced that Alan Menken will be back as the film’s composer and songwriter, teaming with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, while Rob Marshall is said to be Disney’s top pick to direct from a script by Jane Goldman.

Well, if a rumour from That Hashtag Show is to be believed, we may now have our Ariel, as the site is claiming that Disney has offered the lead role to Spider-Man: Homecoming and The Greatest Showman star Zendaya.

This is unconfirmed and should be treated as a rumour for the time being, but the singer and actress is the first name to

Mr. Harrington, head of Peter Parker’s Academic Decathlon team, has an unfortunate track record when it comes to student safety on field trips, and it looks like this worrying trend will continue with next year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home.

While actor Martin Starr’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was technically a small role in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, the Silicon Valley and Freaks and Geeks star didn’t truly make his mark on the franchise until he took on the part of Mr. Harrington, with his deadpan delivery serving as an enjoyable addition to last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Perhaps his most fondly remembered moment comes after Spider-Man saves the class from danger in Washington, D.C., at which point the teacher comments with relief that he couldn’t bear to lose a student on a school trip “again.”

The Greatest Showman and Spider-Man: Homecoming actress, Zendaya has reportedly been offered the lead in Disney’s Live-Action remake of The Little Mermaid.

According to That Hashtag Show, the ex-Disney star is rumoured to have been offered the role of Ariel. However, reps for both Zendaya and Disney have refused to comment.

Mary Poppins Returns director Rob Marshall is set to take the helm on the remake, with Jane Goldman penning the script. Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda will be composing the music. It is thought the film will serve as both an adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale and the 1989 Disney animated classic.

Zendaya Wanted as Ariel in Disney’s Little Mermaid Remake

Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid is reportedly courting former Disney Channel star Zendaya to play the lead role as Ariel. The studio has been making a killing with their live-action remakes of their beloved animated classics. Dumbo, Aladdin, Mulan, and King are all in various stages of production and it looks like The Little Mermaid will be next on that list. Mary Poppins Returns director Rob Marshall is reportedly set to direct from a script by Jane Goldman and production is expected to take place in Puerto Rico and Cape Town Africa.

Disney and representatives for Zendaya Coleman have yet to respond to the reports about the actress taking on the role of Ariel in The Little Mermaid live-action remake, but the choice makes sense. Zendaya has a history with the studio and she has the singing voice needed to tackle the iconic songs from the animated classic.

Sony’s Already Teasing The 2019 Release Of Spider-Man: Far From Home

  • We Got This Covered

Peter Parker’s next solo adventure is already deep in production, that much we know, but it seems Sony Pictures isn’t waiting around to bang the drum for Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Over on Twitter (h/t McU Cosmic), the studio shared a close-up of the sequel’s official logo along with the caption “July 2019.” Oh, and the Powers That Be decided to throw in a Spider emoji just for good measure. And… that’s it.

Not that we were expecting anything particularly juicy – Far From Home is still a full 10 months (and change) out, so it’d be foolish to think Sony was ready to shed light on Peter Parker’s trip to Europe.

The bigger question here is, of course, how Spider-Man: Far From Home will be marketed in the lead-up to Avengers 4. With only nine weeks separating the two McU titles, both parties will need to

Cool Continuity Detail In Spider-Man: Homecoming Revealed

  • We Got This Covered

One Reddit user has noticed an easily-missed but neat continuity detail while rewatching Spider-Man: Homecoming this week.

It’s not much, but it turns out that Peter Parker’s cell phone gets increasingly battered over the course of the movie. At first, it just has an innocuous scratch on the top left corner. After his repeated battles with the Vulture and lots of near-death experiences, however, his phone screen’s cracked all over.

Again, it’s not hugely significant, but it is a neat little detail, so kudos to the props department for threading this fun running gag throughout. It also works because it feels authentic to Spidey’s character. He saves New York but wrecks his phone in the process – that sounds just like the ol’ Parker luck to us. It likewise fits that Peter doesn’t replace it, as we know that he and Aunt May aren’t

There’s indeed been no shortage of high profile talent weighing in on the termination of James Gunn, and this past Friday, another big player in Marvel Cinematic Universe, Vincent D’Onofrio, offered his opinion on the matter.

Coinciding with the latest Bautista onslaught, D’Onofrio, whom you might recognize as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin in the Netflix crime drama Daredevil, proffered his two cents. A man of few words, it’s easy to see where D’Onofrio stands on the matter, nonetheless.

In response to an article posted to Twitter by ScreenRant, entitled “Disney Not Rehiring James Gunn is a Big Mistake for Marvel (And Beyond),” he had the following to say: “This is a big bummer.”

Marvel Studios is Reportedly Going To Shoot an Unannounced Phase 4 Film in The UK Next Year

  • GeekTyrant

By now, we all know that Marvel Studios has a plan set in place for their Phase 4 films and that they are currently deep in the planning and development stages for them. We just don’t know what all of those movies are! There’s been a lot of talk and speculation about what those film could be the only two we know are coming for sure are Spider-Man: Far From Home and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Now a new report has surfaced from Gww that indicates that Marvel Studios is looking to shoot a yet to be announced film in the UK in June of 2019. That outlet lists three possibilities. The Eternals, Black Widow, and Doctor Strange 2.

Doctor Strange 2 might be the likely candidate as a separate report from The Mirror is saying that Benedict Cumberbatch is getting a major pay raise to return to the role and they

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is starting to take shape and it looks like Marvel Studios is looking to move forward in June of 2019, according to a new report. It was believed that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was going to begin shooting in early 2019, but those plans seem to have been postponed for the time being, while they find another director to take on the project. The new report rules out the possibility of the next Guardians film taking the unnamed Phase 4 production slot that’s aiming for next summer in the U.K.

So, which Phase 4 movie will the studio be tackling? There have been rumors that it could very well be Doctor Strange 2, especially since there have been reports that star Benedict Cumberbatch is about to receive a major pay bump from Marvel. However, the sequel has yet to be officially announced, and has only been teased at

For many years now, Marvel Studios has been operating on a tight schedule, informing fans well in advance of every planned entry in the long-awaited build-up to this year’s Infinity War and next year’s Avengers 4. But for the first time in an era, the future of the McU is looking like a pretty mysterious place, and not just because of the feel-bad cliffhanger that the recent fight against Thanos left us with.

It’s obvious that Avengers 4 is going to bring some major changes to the saga, presumably concluding the stories of many a famed superhero while redirecting the arcs of others and paving the way for some fresh faces. After that, Phase 4 will officially be kicking off with Spider-Man: Far From Home likely followed by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but official details remain a little thin about Marvel’s game plan beyond that.

Doctor Strange 2 Said To Begin Production Next Spring

  • We Got This Covered

With the blessing of Kevin Feige, Scott Derrickson teasing a return to the helm, and Benedict Cumberbatch reportedly in for a significant pay increase, Doctor Strange 2 is all but official at this point.

For those of you who don’t know, yesterday, Mirror ran an exclusive pertaining to Cumberbatch and his impending payday. According to the article, the actor’s set to make £7.5 million for Doctor Strange 2 – approximately $9.5 million in Usd – which would be an increase of roughly £5 million – or Usd $6.4 million – from his pay packet for Doctor Strange.

Additionally, the British tabloid’s pegged the sequel to begin principal photography sometime next spring. While we await corroboration on this, which is expected to arrive in September – at least, according to Scott Derrickson – should the tentative start date hold true, it would effectively push the fifth season of Sherlock to 2020, if it happens at all.

Spider-Man: Far from Home is currently filming in and around the London area and a new set video has leaked, featuring the reunion of Peter Parker and Aunt May. While Marisa Tomei didn’t have a whole lot of screen time in Spider-Man: Homecoming, fans are hoping that she’ll have a larger role in the sequel now that she knows Peter Parker’s secret. Plus, a lot has gone on since we last saw Tom Holland’s Parker on the big screen, so one can imagine that Aunt May has been pretty worried about him.

The new set video from Spider-Man: Far From Home takes place at Stansted airport, just outside the U.K. capital. It’s here that Tom Holland was spotted shooting a scene, where he runs out of an airport, yelling, “May!” and running into her arms. The video is a bit shaky and taken from a pretty far distance,

Peter Reunites With Aunt May In Spider-Man: Far From Home Set Video

  • We Got This Covered

The Spider-Man: Far From Home shoot is in full swing in London at the moment and we’re starting to see a couple of set leaks that give us an idea of what we should expect in next summer’s Marvel blockbuster.

The latest glimpse of the pic comes via Reddit user Jorgy_Morgy, who was at London Stansted Airport as the production was filming a pretty telling scene from the upcoming movie. As you can see below, we have Tom Holland’s Peter Parker emerging from an airport and running over to hug Marisa Tomei’s apparently anxious-looking Aunt May. In addition, the London airport’s been dressed to look as if it’s Newark Liberty International Airport.

All this seems to suggest that this is a scene from the end of the movie, arriving after Peter’s finished his European tour and presumably suffered all sorts of high profile calamities while there.

Tom Holland’s latest Spider-Man: Far From Home video teasing a Hydro-Man appearance?

Although Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio is expected to be the main villain in next year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, we also know that Michael Keaton’s Vulture will be making his return, and it seems we might also see a third villain in the form of Morris Bench, a.k.a. Hydro-Man.

The speculation about a Hydro-Man appearance stems from Tom Holland’s latest set video, which sees Holland’s Peter Parker stunt double being hit by a giant wave of water. So, that’s got to be a water-based villain, right? I mean, what else could cause a wave?!

‘Spiderman: Far From Home’: Cast, Release Date, Spoilers, Theories And Everything We Know

9 July 2018, 20:49

By Katie Louise-Smith

Tom Holland is officially back shooting the sequel to ‘Spiderman: Homecoming’, which will be released in July 2019. Here’s everything we know so far, including the cast, release date and leaked footage from the set.

Your friendly neighbourhood legend, Tom Holland has already finished filmed his role in Avengers 4 (it was shot back to back with Infinity War) but it looks like we’re not going to have wait for very long at all before he suits up and heads off on another adventure as Spiderman.

Filming on Spiderman: Far From Home has begun and Holland has been spotted in various parts of London shooting scenes for the upcoming movie, including a very emotional one, alone, on top of a building.

Here’s everything we know so far about the highly anticipated sequel to Spiderman: Homecoming.

When will Far From Home be released?

Spiderman: Far From Home will be released in the US on July 5, 2019. That’s just a few months after Avengers 4.

What is the title of the movie?

The sequel will be called Spiderman: Far From Home, which was revealed in a “leaked” Instagram video from Tom Holland. The devil works hard but the Marvel marketing team work harder.

Who is in Far From Home? Who will be reprising their roles?

Well, Tom Holland is back on board as Peter Parker, of course. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are also set to be reprising their roles of Michelle and Ned respectively. Marisa Tomei will also return as Aunt May and Michael Keaton’s Vulture will be back to wreak more havoc.

It’s also been heavily rumoured that Jake Gyllenhaal will be joining the cast as the villainous Mysterio.

There’s also been rumours that casting for a new female lead has begun. Fans seem to think that she might be a new take on Gwen Stacy who Peter will meet on his European travels. Other theories suggest that we’ll finally get to meet Jessica Drew aka Spider-woman.

What will happen in Far From Home?

After surviving whatever events happen in Avengers 4, Peter will embark on a summer holiday around Europe. It’s already been confirmed that the movie will take place in several different locations and production began shooting in London at the beginning of July.

Speaking to io9, Marvel boss Kevin Feige said: “We start filming early July. We film in London. We shot first film in Atlanta. And we shoot a lot of films in London but there’s another reason we’re shooting in London which is, yes, Spidey, of course, will spend some time in New York, but he’ll spend some time in other parts of the globe.”

“The way Civil War and the fact that he went to Leipzig Airport and then has to go back to school, informed Homecoming, the two Avengers films that precede [the sequel] will greatly inform, probably even more so, the next movie.”

Whether or not Peter will travel back into space remains to be seen.

It also looks like Peter might have to face off against two villains in the sequel as well, with both Vulture and Mysterio making appearances.

When will Far From Home take place?

You’ll remember how Homecoming picked up right after Civil War? Well. it’s already been confirmed by Sony producer Amy Pascal that Spiderman: Far From Home will pick up right AFTER Avengers 4 (or Avengers: End Game, if you believe the recent news).

And that obviously means that Peter will be coming “back to life” at some point during Avengers 4. It’s not yet known how he’ll go from ash to a fully fledged human again.

Will there be any other Avengers in Far From Home?

There’s a possibility that other Avengers might appear in the film but it all depends on what happens at the end of Avengers 4. It’s already been all but confirmed that there will be some permanent deaths in the fourth Avengers movie judging by the intense synopsis of the film.

Tom Holland has already been spotted filming an emotional scene on location in London – could he be upset about the potential death of someone close to him? Sayyyyy, his mentor Tony Stark perhaps?

Nope. Not yet! Production has only just started on the sequel so it looks like we’ll be waiting for quite a while. Marvel also have two more films to promote before Spiderman: Far From Home so we’ll likely see our first teaser after the Captain Marvel trailer and the trailer for Avengers 4, which will arrive toward the end of the year.
